WVU assistant coach sued over house deal

A Monongalia County couple has filed suit against a former West Virginia University assistant football coach, his wife and a real estate company, alleging a house they bought had undisclosed landslide and drainage problems.

Christopher and Mary Edwards claim Tara, who worked for JS Walker, and Rick Trickett failed to disclose they had done $320,000 worth of work to a house they sold the Edwards for $648,000 on Nov. 1.

The Edwards allege the work was done in an attempt to fix landslide and drainage problems, according to a complaint filed Sept. 9 in Monongalia County Circuit Court.

The Edwards allege the land is still sliding and that Tara, as the selling agent, had specific knowledge of the sliding land but failed to disclose it.

They claim they have suffered monetary damages because of the problem.

The Edwards are seeking a judgment in an amount that will compensate them for their injuries, lost wages and legal costs including attorney's fees.

They are also seeking past, present and future moving expenses, an award for annoyance and grievance, unspecified incidental and punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest and any additional relief that is appropriate.

Jennifer McGiley of Morgantown will be representing the Edwards.

Monongalia County Circuit Court case number: 08-C-653.
