CHARLESTON -- Secretary of State Betty Ireland is the featured speaker for the October Business for Breakfast.
SCORE, the SBDC and the State Journal are sponsors of the event, scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Oct. 24 at the Charleston Marriott Town Center's Whitewater Grille. The event will end at 8:30 a.m.
Ireland will discuss "Balancing Business & Family".
"In an ongoing effort to balance business and family life, we certainly don't want to completely sacrifice one for the other," Ireland said. "Neither do we want to ignore our position of responsibility or leadership in the workplace or at home. During my career now, and while raising a family, I've managed this challenge as if it were a pendulum-which cannot remain in one direction consistently, but rather somewhere in the middle.
"The pendulum needs to swing where all needs have successfully been met, if only on that particular day, or during that particular time. It's an ongoing struggle, no doubt about it, and we can't do this balancing act alone without cooperation and support in all areas of our lives."
There is no fee for the event, but businesses are encouraged to purchase breakfast. Pre-registration is appreciated and can be completed either online at wvscore.org or by e-mail at score256@wvscore.org.
"Business for Breakfast is an important networking and learning opportunity," Charleston Area SCORE Chairman Serendra Verma said. "A healthy breakfast will improve but not interfere with your work day."
