MARTINSBURG -- The West Virginia Clean Water Coalition Inc. will host a reception for legislators and other members of the business community on Oct. 16.
The event will start at 5 p.m. at the Berkeley County Public Service Commission facility, located at 65 District Way in Martinsburg.
The reception is organized to introduce leaders of the Coalition to legislators, while educating all attendees on the organization's mission and agenda for the 2009 legislative session.
The West Virginia Clean Water Coalition is a group of West Virginia Eastern Panhandle municipalities and public service districts that are directly impacted by the current condition of the Chesapeake Bay Program and its Potomac Tributary Strategy.
The Coalition is committed to the restoration and protection of the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed, and fully supports the goals of the Chesapeake Bay Program, which is an agreement between the states in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and the United States EPA to take action to restore and protect the Chesapeake Bay. Theses states include Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, The District of Columbia and West Virginia.
Reception guests will learn many more details about the Coalition and its objectives, which include promoting and delivering reasonable, efficient and effective funding and application of the Potomac Tributary Strategy to reduce nutrient levels in the Chesapeake Bay.
