PERSONNEL FILE: Dinsmore & Shohl ranked No. 1 in U.S. for Mining Law

CHARLESTON -- Dinsmore & Shohl recently was honored as the No. 1 law firm for Mining Law in the United States by The Best Lawyers in America 2009.

For the second year in a row, Dinsmore & Shohl is recognized as having more lawyers listed in the field of Mining Law than any other firm in the U.S. Best Lawyers is widely regarded as the finest referral guide to the U.S. legal profession.

"It is an honor to be recognized by our peers as the top law firm for Mining Law in the United States by Best Lawyers," said Chauncey S.R. Curtz, chair of the firm's Natural Resources Practice Group. "The firm's Natural Resources attorneys have hundreds of years of experience in every aspect of the mining industry - one of the most heavily regulated industries in our economy today."

Dinsmore & Shohl is honored to have nine Best Lawyers in Mining Law across the United States including: Anna M. Dailey, W. Henry Jernigan Jr., Donna C. Kelly, Christopher B. Power, and Forrest H. Roles of Charleston; Chauncey S.R. Curtz and John R. Rhorer Jr. of Lexington, Ky.; Edmund M. Carney and Thomas C. Reed of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Dinsmore & Shohl is currently ranked by Best Lawyers as the No. 1 law firm in the United States in two major practice areas -- Mining Law and Workers' Compensation. The firm has 107 total lawyers listed in Best Lawyers.

Since its inception in 1983, Best Lawyers has become regarded as the definitive guide to legal excellence in the United States. Because Best Lawyers is based on an peer-review survey in which 16,000 leading attorneys throughout the country cast more than a half million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their specialties, and because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a singular honor.

Dinsmore & Shohl marks its 100th anniversary in 2008, celebrating a legacy of client service forged by founding partners Frank Dinsmore and Judge Walter Shohl.

The firm is one of the largest full-service law firms in the Midwest and provides a broad range of integrated services to meet the needs of both large and small businesses, as well as institutions, associations, governments, professional firms and individuals.

Dinsmore & Shohl is comprised of more than 375 attorneys practicing in nine offices throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
