Shingleton
CHARLESTON -- The West Virginia Desk and Derrick Club named Lorena Shingleton, ACP the first "Member of the Year" at its Second Annual Energy Industry Appreciation Luncheon held on Oct. 21 at the Marriott in Charleston.
Shingleton was recognized for her outstanding achievements and contributions to the club, which include serving as club Director in 2005 and 2006; Vice-President in 2007 and 2008; coordinator for a 10 month educational course regarding the Fundamentals of Petroleum; Region 1 general arrangements chair; and co-chair for the First and Second Annual Energy Industry Appreciation Luncheons.
She is also responsible for creating and editing the club's monthly newsletter; and is an active participant in numerous club committees, including public relations, education/seminars, and scholarship.
Shingleton, an advanced certified paralegal, has been with Steptoe & Johnson since 2002 and currently is assigned to energy and environmental matters within the business and litigation departments.
She is an active member of the Legal Assistants/Paralegals of Southern West Virginia, having earned the organization's highest honor in 2007 as "Paralegal of the Year." Shingleton also participates in the National Association of Legal Assistants, the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia, Junior Achievement of West Virginia, Inc., and Kanawha County CASA, Inc. Shingleton attended the University of Charleston and Marshall University.
