HUNTINGTON -- Mary Hylton Sanders, a partner in the law firm of Huddleston Bolen has been named a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, a highly selective honorary society established to reflect and recognize the face of the American bar in the 21st century.

Sanders practices out of Huddleston's Charleston offices.

Membership in the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA) is by invitation only and limited to 3,500 Fellows nationwide; less than one-half of 1 percent of all lawyers in the United States. The LCA selects Fellows based on effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation, both at the trial and appellate levels, and superior ethical reputation. Aggressively diverse in its composition, the society represents the best in law among its membership.

"Mary Hylton Sanders has been a respected partner at Huddleston Bolen for some time. Her inclusion into the Litigation Counsel of America is a statement to her success as a trial lawyer. We are proud to have Mary as a member of our team," said Kevin Nelson, Managing Partner of the Charleston office of the law firm.

A prolific litigator who has tried more than 100 cases to jury verdict, Sanders' appellate work has established insurance case law in many areas of coverage, bad faith, and damages. Nominated as a "Super Lawyer" by her peers, Sanders considers her greatest accomplishment as a lawyer to be her ability to consistently achieve good results for her clients in the areas of insurance, contractors, transportation, and appellate law.

She is a frequent contributing author to legal publications, and a frequent speaker in continuing legal education seminars. Sanders has served as a governor of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia and currently is a member of DRI, the largest organization of defense trial lawyers in the U.S.

Sanders graduated with a Bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Oregon. She received her Juris Doctorate from The West Virginia University College of Law in 1984. Before beginning her legal education, she worked as an artist, chef, and builder. Sanders art has been featured in many prominent West Virginia locations including the firm's Charleston office and at an on-going exhibit at the Visions Day Spa on Capitol Street in Charleston.
