Woman says she was injured at Cliffside Inn

SHEPHERDSTOWN -– A Jefferson County woman has filed suit against Cliffside Inn, alleging she was injured while visiting the business.

Betty Milton was visiting the Cliffside Inn on Nov. 1 when she was injured, according to the complaint filed in Jefferson Circuit Court.

Although the complaint does not state how Milton was injured, it does say her injury was "a direct and proximate result of the negligence of the Defendant."

Cliffside Inn negligently failed to maintain the premises in a safe condition and violated their duty of reasonable care, Milton alleges.

Because of her severe and permanent injury, Milton suffered extreme physical pain, emotional distress, mental anguish and loss of her capacity to enjoy life, according to the complaint.

In the three-count suit, Milton is seeking a judgment in excess of the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson Circuit Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees and costs.

Mark Jenkinson and Ronald Harman of Burke, Schultz, Harman and Jenkinson in Martinsburg will be representing her.
