PERSONNEL FILE: Huddleston Bolen attorney admitted to Bar

HUNTINGTON -- Huddleston Bolen has announced that attorney Conrad Lucas has been admitted to the West Virginia Bar.

Lucas will practice in the firm's Huntington office, with an emphasis in the areas of education and commercial law. Lucas joined Huddleston Bolen in 2008 after having spent one summer in the firm's clerkship program.

"We congratulate Conrad on his achievement and know he will make significant contributions to the firm and our clients," said Tom Gilpin, chairman of the firm's management committee. "Conrad brings a solid understanding of the legal issues surrounding public, private, and post secondary education, as well as the formation, operation and disposition of business organizations."

Lucas graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University where he majored in Human & Organization Development with a minor in History. While at Vanderbilt, he was awarded the Frank K. Houston Undergraduate Public Speaking Award and participated in numerous student activities including serving as the country music reporter for the school's newspaper and as president of his fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha.

He later earned a master's degree in Education, Policy & Management from Harvard University. Lucas earned his law degree from Tulane University where he served as a Senior Justice on Moot Court and earned a certificate in Environmental Law. Additionally, he earned a Certificate of International Law at the Sorbonne (Paris) through Cornell University.

Prior to joining Huddleston Bolen, Lucas worked as a policy analyst for the Cowen Institute at Tulane University where he was part of the efforts to rebuild the education system in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. He also previously served as an aide to U.S. Representative Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va.

In addition to his professional life, Lucas is a past recipient of the Governor's Community Service Award and is a former state president of the Family, Career & Community Leaders of America. Currently, he is heavily involved in numerous political and civic activities and recently co-authored a travel guide to France, Europe Beyond Your Means: The Paris Edition.
