Bell

CHARLESTON -- Charleston attorney Harry F. Bell Jr. has been honored in the latest edition of Super Lawyers. Bell was named a Super Lawyer in the fields of class actions and mass torts as well as business litigation.

Bell received his B.S., cum laude, in Economics from West Virginia University in 1977, and is a 1980 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law.

After having worked as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Kanawha County, the Charleston native joined the Charleston-based firm of Kay, Casto & Chaney, where he became a partner in 1987. While there, Bell learned the civil litigation craft under the tutelage of the late John S. Haight.

Bell left Kay, Casto in 1992 to form his own civil litigation practice. Bell has represented numerous clients in mass tort claims in both state and federal Courts in West Virginia and in other states.

Last year, he was appointed co-Lead and liaison counsel in the national Digitek MDL by the Honorable Joseph R. Goodwin, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.

Bell has more than 29 years of actual litigation experience trying cases in state and federal courts and has spoken numerous times before various legal groups nationally on various legal topics including mass torts and mediation.

Given his unique background handling both defense and plaintiff's matters, he also is in demand as a trained and experienced mediator.

Bell is a member of the Defense Research Institute, AAJ, The West Virginia Bar Association and the West Virginia State Bar. He has previously served in the capacity of Chair and vice chair of the Charleston WV Civic Center Board, on the Charleston Fireman's Civil Service Commission and is current on the WVU Athletic Development Council and the Highland Hospital Board.
