LOUISVILLE, Ky. -– Cincinnati-based law firm Dinsmore & Shohl and Louisville-based Woodward, Hobson & Fulton have announced the merger of their firms.
Woodward, an icon in the Kentucky legal community with a large corporate, litigation and labor & employment law practice, will combine with Dinsmore & Shohl effective Sept. 1.
Founded in 1917, Woodward, Hobson & Fulton is comprised of 54 practicing attorneys. With their addition, Dinsmore & Shohl gains additional strengths in a number of core areas including: corporate law, products liability, tort and labor & employment law.
"We are honored that this distinguished group of attorneys has joined our firm," said George Vincent, managing partner of Dinsmore and Shohl. "One of the firm's strategic goals is to keep pace with continued client growth in the Midwest and this is certainly another step in the right direction.
"Woodward, Hobson & Fulton is well-known for excellence and great client service in the Commonwealth and their addition notably enhances the reputation of our firm throughout the region."
Attorneys with the Woodward, Hobson & Fulton firm have been honored by their peers for several awards, including 13 attorneys recognized by The Best Lawyers in America, 17 by Kentucky Super Lawyers, five by Chambers USA Leading Lawyers for Business, and has been recognized as a Best Place to Work in Kentucky since the inception of the program five years ago.
"My partners, associates, staff and I are very excited about this incredible opportunity to join one of the premier firms in the region," said Donna King Perry, managing partner of Woodward, Hobson & Fulton. "This is a win not only for our firm but for our clients who will benefit from the depth, breadth and capabilities of a larger organization. We have no doubt this move will create opportunities to enhance the level of legal services our existing clients have come to expect."
Dinsmore & Shohl, established in 1908, previously was the ninth-largest law firm in Kentucky according to the Lane Report's February 2009 Lane List. Following the opening of their Frankfort office earlier this year and with the addition of Woodward, Hobson & Fulton, Dinsmore is now one of the largest law firms in the Commonwealth with 105 local practicing attorneys.
Dinsmore & Shohl has grown by more than 150 attorneys in the last two years, principally through its combination with the largest Corporate/Tax Firm in Dayton, Chernesky Heyman & Kress P.L.L., and when it welcomed 27 attorneys departing the Columbus office of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs.
With offices in Lexington, Louisville and Frankfort in Kentucky; Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton in Ohio; Charleston, Morgantown and Wheeling in West Virginia; and Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, Dinsmore & Shohl is comprised of more than 450 attorneys, concentrating on all aspects of corporate, business litigation and labor & employment law.
