Broughton
CLARKSBURG -– Jackson Kelly attorney Marcia Broughton recently was named to the West Virginia University Foundation Board of Directors. She will serve a three-year term.
Broughton heads Jackson Kelly's estate and trust practice group in West Virginia. Her practice is concentrated in the areas of estate planning, tax planning and business practices. She is a graduate of West Virginia University School of Business and Economics and the College of Law. Broughton received her LLM in taxation from Georgetown University.
In addition, Broughton is a Certified Public Accountant and a Fellow in the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel. She is a frequent speaker at continuing education programs for the West Virginia State Bar, as well as various business and accounting organizations. Broughton was a member of the board of directors of Empire National Bank and One Valley Bank of Clarksburg, West Virginia, as well as other corporate boards.
In her new role, Broughton will seek to fulfill the mission of the WVU Foundation -- which is to enrich the lives of those touched by West Virginia University by maximizing private charitable support for the university and providing services to its affiliated organizations. Currently, there are 29 members of the Board of Directors including the WVU president, who is a non-voting member.
Jackson Kelly represents global corporations, national companies, entrepreneurs and individuals in areas of law such as environmental, business, labor and employment, federal and state workers' compensation, civil litigation and occupational safety and health. The firm has offices in Colorado, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia and West Virginia.
