Man says he slipped on ice outside Golden Corral

HUNTINGTON – A man claims Golden Corral is responsible for his fall on ice as he was leaving the restaurant.

Donald Gillenwater filed a lawsuit Aug. 6 in Cabell Circuit Court against Platinum Corral, doing business as Golden Corral of Huntington.

Gillenwater claims he was exiting the Golden Corral in Huntington on Jan. 31 when he slipped and fell on ice located right outside the restaurant's exit way.

Because of his fall, Gillenwater incurred medical costs, suffered severe and permanent injuries, lost earnings, lost his ability to enjoy life and endured pain, suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, annoyance and inconvenience, according to the complaint.

He blames Golden Corral for failing to keep its walkways in a safe condition.

Gillenwater is seeking compensatory and general damages, plus costs, attorney's fees and other relief the court deems just.

J. Michael Ranson, Cynthia M. Ranson and George B. Morrone III of Ranson Law Offices in Charleston will be representing him.

Cabell Circuit Judge David M. Pancake has been assigned to the case.
