CHARLESTON -– Jackson Kelly has been recognized as the first recipient of the West Virginia Department of Education's Community Leader Service Award.

The award is in recognition of Jackson Kelly's innovative Education Elevators Program (JKEEP), a recent outgrowth of the firm's longstanding partnership with Piedmont Elementary School in Charleston.

The firm was honored at a Community Leader Service Award ceremony hosted by the state Department of Education.

Jackson Kelly has partnered with Piedmont, Charleston's inner-city elementary school, for more than 25 years. In the fall of 2007, the firm renewed and revitalized that commitment with an initiative designed to elevate the aspirations and abilities of Piedmont students.

As part of JKEEP, Jackson Kelly Elevators work closely with the staff at Piedmont to support students one-on-one with academics, self-esteem and special interests.
