PERSONNEL FILE: Brewer a finalist for Caperton Award

MORGANTOWN -- The Wellness Council of West Virginia has selected Steptoe & Johnson CEO Susan S. Brewer as a finalist for the Caperton Award for Excellence.

The Caperton Award recognizes senior-level executives who have communicated the message of wellness throughout their organizations, allocated appropriate resources for wellness, and participated in wellness activities as an example to others.

The Caperton Award was named for West Virginia's 31st Governor, Gaston Caperton, as his example of healthy lifestyle choices served as an inspiration to the people of West Virginia.

Steptoe & Johnson is a publicly recognized corporate supporter of the well workplace environment. In 2007, the firm's Charleston, Clarksburg and Morgantown offices received the coveted Well Workplace Gold Award, acknowledging its commitment to the health and well-being of employees.

Presented by the Wellness Councils of America (WELCOA), the Well Workplace Gold Award recognized Steptoe & Johnson for successfully integrating health promotion into its corporate culture and overall business practices.

"Steptoe & Johnson has successfully built comprehensive worksite wellness initiatives and we continue to see tangible outcomes, positive results and team building related to behavior change and increased awareness of our individual and group wellness," stated Brewer. "The firm's energetic involvement has always been a team effort."

Brewer and her fellow finalists will attend the awards presentation at the 23rd Annual Mid-Atlantic Conference on Worksite Wellness on Friday, October 23rd at the Charleston Marriott. At that time, Brewer will be recognized as a finalist, and the winner will be announced during the ceremony. The winner, as well as the finalists, will be featured in an announcement in WV Executive later this year.
