Credit card term changes topic of 'The Law Works'

Ringer

CHARLESTON -- For every credit card in your wallet, you'll probably be getting a notice about changes in the company's terms. Some of these will benefit consumers, and others may not.

To find out more about how to decipher what changes are being made and what you should do or not do, watch this week's "The Law Works" Thursday at 8:30 p.m. on West Virginia PBS.

Now in its 11th season, "The Law Works" is the state's only weekly television show discussing legal issues that effect the lives of everyday citizens. Host Dan Ringer operates his own law practice in Morgantown. In 1999, Ringer was named West Virginia's first Lawyer Citizen of the Year of the West Virginia Bar Foundation. He served as president of the West Virginia State Bar (1999-2000) and was named the American Bar Association's Practitioner of the Year in 2000.

Joining Ringer for the Oct. 29 program will be Jill Miles, Deputy Attorney General, Consumer Protection; and Chris Hedges, assistant attorney general, both from the West Virginia Attorney General's office. Miles joined the Attorney General's office in 1994 and has led the consumer protection and antitrust divisions since 1996.

More information about these and other recent topics from the program is available at "The Law Works" Web site. A resource page listing various informational sites is also available.
