CHARLESTON -- The State Law Library will present a free informational session on the tax implications of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, commonly known as the "Stimulus Bill," at a brown bag lunch at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
Cassell Pulliam of the Internal Revenue Service will explain new tax credits created by the bill. These include an increase in the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), an expanded tax credit for college tuition, the home energy credit and an $8,000 home buyer's credit. Unless renewed, some of the credits will expire soon, so it is important that the public take advantage of them while they are still available.
The workshop will be held in Conference Room E-315, on the third floor of the East Wing of the Capitol. Metered parking is available on California Avenue and adjacent to the Culture Center. Bring your own bag lunch. Dessert will be provided. The session is free, open to the public, and no registration is required.
For information, call the State Law Library at (304) 558-2607.
