CHARLESTON -– The 16th edition of The Best Lawyers in America, a peer-review publication in the legal profession ("Best Lawyers"), has named five Jackson Kelly lawyers as Charleston, W.Va. Best Lawyers' 2010 Lawyers of the Year.

Ellen S. Cappellanti was named for Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights, Charles D. Dunbar for Corporate, David M. Flannery for Environmental, Robert G. McLusky for Energy and Louis S. Southworth for Mergers and Acquisitions. A total of only nine lawyers from Charleston, W.Va. were chosen for this recognition.

Jackson Kelly CEO Mike Foster said, "I believe this honor signifies our lawyers' dedication and commitment to both the practice of law as well as to our clients. Recognition by peers is one of the most meaningful forms of praise, and I am proud that so many of our folks were acknowledged this year."

After more than a quarter of a century in publication, Best Lawyers is designating "Lawyers of the Year" in high-profile legal specialties in large legal communities. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is being honored as the "Lawyer of the Year."

Best Lawyers compiles its lists of outstanding attorneys by conducting peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The current, 16th edition of The Best Lawyers in America (2010), is based on more than 2.8 million detailed evaluations. The lawyers being honored as "Lawyers of the Year" have received particularly high ratings in surveys by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism and integrity.

Jackson Kelly represents leading global corporations, national companies, entrepreneurs and individuals in areas of law such as environmental, business, labor and employment, federal and state workers' compensation, civil litigation and occupational safety and health. The firm has offices in West Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Colorado and the District of Columbia.
