CHARLESTON -- Bill Maloney, a Republican candidate for governor, handed out free pork sandwiches on March 7 at the Capitol.

"I'm hosting a pork sandwich giveaway at the Capitol to highlight the pork barrel giveaway taking place there this legislative session," he said. "While my pork giveaway is in jest, the legislature's out-of-control spending is no laughing matter."

"The West Virginia legislature's priorities are all wrong. The state faces a possible $191 million budget deficit next year, yet our legislators are proposing a salary increase for public employees that would cost taxpayers an addition $47 million to $83 million.

Maloney founded his first business in Morgantown in 1984, and he grew the two-man shop to a business of 150 employees.
