Steptoe & Johnson announces 2010 webinar series

CHARLESTON -– Steptoe & Johnson has announced the first topic of the firm's 2010 energy webinar series, which will feature a three-part presentation on legal issues surrounding the Marcellus Shale development.

Members of the firm's Energy Team launched part one of the series on Jan. 20. The presentation, entitled, "Marcellus Shale – Murky Water Issues" was presented in part by attorney Armando Benincasa. Parts two and three of the series will take place on Feb. 17 and March 17.

The webinars are a free educational service provided by Steptoe & Johnson. Clients and guests may register online at http://www.steptoe-johnson.com/energywebinar1.aspx.

The Marcellus Formation is a unit of marine sedimentary rock found in eastern North America. Named for a distinctive outcrop near the village of Marcellus, N.Y., it extends throughout much of the Appalachian Basin. The shale contains largely untapped natural gas reserves, and its proximity to the high-demand markets along the East Coast of the United States makes it an attractive target for energy development.

Videos and PowerPoint slideshows from the firm's 2009 webinar series on matters affecting Cap and Trade can be found on the http://www.steptoe-johnson.com/webinar/default.aspx link.
