CHARLESTON -– Susan S. Brewer, CEO of Steptoe & Johnson, has announced that Kurt L. Krieger has joined the firm, Of Counsel, and will be a member of the firm's energy team in Charleston.
A graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University (B.S.), and the West Virginia University College of Law, Krieger dedicated nearly 20 years of his career to the natural resources industry, having served with Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation, and then NiSource Corporate Services Company as Assistant General Counsel.
At Steptoe & Johnson, Krieger will practice in the areas of energy, utility regulation, natural resources, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation. As a member of the firm's energy team, Krieger will utilize extensive experience representing interstate natural gas pipeline companies and public utilities before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
He has developed, implemented and managed a FERC compliance program for interstate natural gas pipeline companies and public utilities, counseled extensively on FERC rate, tariff, and certificate matters, standards of conduct and code of conduct issues, and developed training on numerous FERC-related topics. Krieger previously counseled clients on coal mine health and safety matters, and federal tax and general business aspects of corporate acquisitions, mergers, reorganizations, and executive compensation.
