CHARLESTON--The State Law Library will host a "brown bag" lunch to commemorate Law Day on May 3.
Law Day was proclaimed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1958 as a day to reflect on the role of law in the founding of our country and recognize its importance in society. The theme for 2010 is "Enduring Traditions, Emerging Challenges."
Law Librarian Sara Thompson will lead a group discussion on music distribution and copyright in the 21st Century. Participants will debate a hypothetical scenario of two singing groups who are battling over the rights to a song which both groups claim as their own.
The session is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
The lunch will be held in Room E-314 of the State Capitol May 3 at noon.
Metered parking is available on California Avenue, behind the Culture Center and next to the parking structure on Piedmont Avenue.
For more information, contact the State Law Library at 304-558-2607.
