Morrison
CLARKSBURG -- The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers recently announced the election of C. David Morrison, a member of Steptoe & Johnson, as a newly elected Fellow.
Election as a Fellow is the highest recognition by one's colleagues of sustained outstanding performance in the profession, exemplifying integrity, dedication and excellence.
Morrison is the Chair of Steptoe & Johnson's Labor and Employment Department and has more than 25 years of experience in employment trial and appellate practice and employment counseling, including supervisory training. A graduate of Transylvania University (B.A.) and the University of Kentucky (J.D.), Morrison has presented numerous seminars for clients and trade associations, and has served as an adjunct lecturer on trial advocacy and pretrial strategies at West Virginia University College of Law.
He is a member of the West Virginia Coal Association, the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference, the American Bar Association, the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce, and the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Morrison served on the board of trustees for Alderson-Broaddus College for 12 years, and currently serves on the boards of directors of 20/10 Consulting, LLC, a Steptoe & Johnson-owned company and of the Harrison County YMCA.
Morrison is recognized in legal publications such as The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business, and Super Lawyers, and holds the highest rating given by Martindale-Hubbell. Earlier this month, Steptoe & Johnson's Labor and Employment Group was ranked first in West Virginia by the managing editors of Chambers USA, a respected legal directory.
The 15th installation of Fellows will be held on Nov. 6 in Chicago, coincident with the American Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law Section's Continuing Legal Education Conference.
Steptoe & Johnson is a regional business-focused firm with strengths in energy, labor, employment and litigation. It comprises more than 180 lawyers resident in eight locations throughout West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky.
The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers was the vision of a number of the Fellows. The idea was to further establish this profession in all its aspects as one uniquely important to the world of labor and employment law, individual rights, collective bargaining and dispute resolution.
The College was established in 1995 through an initiative of the Council of The Section of Labor and Employment Law of The American Bar Association. It operates as a free standing organization recognizing those who, by long and outstanding service, have distinguished themselves as leaders in the field.
