PERSONNEL FILE: U.S. News recognizes Morgantown law firm

MORGANTOWN -- The U.S. News magazine edition of Best Lawyers in America names the Morgantown law firm of Allan N. Karlin & Associates as a West Virginia Tier 1 law firm in the area of Employment Law representing individuals.

The firm includes attorneys Allan N. Karlin, Jane E. Peak and Sarah Wagner Montoro.

The results, ranking 8,782 firms across the United States, will be featured in the upcoming U.S. News & World Report. U.S. News is the world's leading publisher of institutional rankings based on both objective data and peer evaluations. The rankings are posted online at www.usnews.com/bestlawfirms.

Karlin has also been named a Super Lawyer by Super Lawyer magazine (2008 - present). He is a member of The College of Labor & Employment Lawyers (2007) and the American College of Trial Lawyers (2006), and a Fellow of the West Virginia Bar Foundation (2004).

In addition, Karlin previously served as Chairperson of the West Virginia Lawyer Disciplinary Board and as President of the West Virginia Association for Justice. He is active in the West Virginia Fund for Law in the Public Interest and a member of the Ethics Committee of the National Employment Lawyers Association. Karlin earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University and his law degree form the University of California Berkeley. He has practiced law in Morgantown since 1975.

Peak has been recognized as Practitioner of the Year by the Women's Law Caucus of the West Virginia University College of Law (2005). She is currently the Chair of the Employment Law Committee of the West Virginia State Bar and has taught Appellate Advocacy at the WVU College of Law. She is also a past president of the West Virginia Employment Lawyers Association and is currently on the Executive Committee for the West Virginia Association for Justice. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Marshall University and her law degree from West Virginia University. She has practiced in Morgantown since 1996.

Montoro graduated from West Virginia University and the West Virginia University College of Law, where she was a member of the law review. From 2006-2007, Montoro served as a law clerk for Judge Robert B. King, Circuit Judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She joined Allan N. Karlin & Associates in 2007.
