U.S. Chamber endorses Maynard for Congress

Maynard

WILLIAMSON -– The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Spike Maynard for Congress.

"It is the Chamber's goal to help elect a pro-business Congress and work diligently in the interests of businesses large and small to advance legislation that encourages economic growth, job creation, and a less intrusive federal government," Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donahue wrote in a letter to Maynard. "Your support of pro-business issues earned this endorsement.

"We believe that your election to the U.S. House will help produce sustained economic growth and help create more jobs."

Maynard thanked the Chamber for the endorsement.

"Nick Rahall supports President Obama's high-taxing, big-spending, job-killing agenda," he said. "I don't, and that's why I'm running for Congress. Our people need jobs and a good environment for business, and Nick Rahall isn't doing it. I thank the Chamber for their endorsement."

Maynard is the Republican running in the 3rd Congressional District of West Virginia. A former West Virginia State Supreme Court Justice and trial judge from Mingo County, Maynard is an Air Force veteran and was the Managing Director of the Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce and practiced law.

In 1976, Maynard was elected as a Prosecuting Attorney for Mingo County. He was appointed by Gov. Jay Rockefeller to the 30th Judicial Circuit and was twice elected to that circuit. He was later to the Supreme Court of Appeals, where he served as Chief Justice in 2000, 2004 and 2008.
