PERSONNEL FILE: Charleston firm creates W.Va. natural gas blog

CHARLESTON -- Lewis Glasser Casey & Rollins has created a blog that provides information on key developments and news related to the state's natural gas industry.

The firm's blog -- West Virginia Natural Gas Blog -- provides interested readers with regular updates on regulatory matters, research reports, industry trends and current news and information affecting natural gas producers, drillers, pipeline companies and regulatory agencies.

Based in Charleston, Lewis Glasser Casey & Rollins has an extensive background representing natural gas companies, pipelines and other energy businesses in regulatory, litigation, land, mineral and commercial matters.

The firm also has an active government relations practice that represents natural gas clients, among others, before the West Virginia Legislature and state agencies. That practice is called LGCR Government Solutions.

The authors of this blog are lawyers with LGCR who have deep knowledge and keen insights of natural gas legal, mineral law and regulatory issues in West Virginia.

"Our attorneys started the blog as an internal information sharing exercise, but now we are expanding it to make it available to the public," said Richard Gottlieb, an attorney at LGCR who heads the firm's natural gas practice. "Our attorney post items on this blog to inform the public but not for the purpose of giving specific legal advice, he added.

Lewis Glasser's natural gas practice is recognized as one of the leading natural gas practices in West Virginia, and the firm has been recognized as a top tier oil and gas law firm by Best Lawyers. Gottlieb has been recognized by both Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers as a leading expert in West Virginia in the natural gas area.

"The state's natural gas industry is experiencing a renaissance brought on in large part by activities related to production of the new, highly prolific deep shale formations," Gottlieb said. "As such, we thought a blog of this type would be useful to those inside our state and to those outside who are looking to invest or expand operations.

"Our firm has been getting a steady stream of calls from businesses and investment firms intrigued by the success of the Marcellus play. This blog should help provide timely and useful information."
