Bentz
CHARLESTON -– Jill Bentz, a partner in Dinsmore & Shohl's Charleston office, has been recognized as a member of the Young Guns Class of 2011 by West Virginia Executive magazine.
Bentz was one of only 11 recipients named to the class and is the only attorney in the Mountain State recognized as a Young Gun this year. More than 200 nominations were considered for the honor.
April Plank, COO and partner of Executive Ink, the publishing company for West Virginia Executive, had the following to say about the selection process, "We're looking for the well-rounded professional—the whole package, if you will. We want to recognize the men and women who have achieved success and continue to set new goals, who encompass an entrepreneurial spirit, who make it a priority to give back to their communities and their state and who inspire others to dream big. For us, this is what a Young Gun is."
Bentz is the chair of Dinsmore & Shohl's Government Relations Practice Group and a member of the firm's Professional Development and Recruiting Committees. She focuses her practice on government relations, insurance and health care law. In addition, Bentz played a key role in the passage of West Virginia's comprehensive insurance and civil justice reform legislation in 2005.
She currently serves as President of the West Virginia Insurance Federation and is the lead lobbyist for the property and casualty insurance industry in West Virginia. Bentz earned her J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law and her B.A. from the University of Kentucky.
The Young Guns awards were created in 1999 by West Virginia Executive. Each year, a new class of Young Guns is selected. Members are chosen based on the success they have achieved in their industry, as well as their work ethic, with special consideration to their community involvement. Nominations for this prestigious honor are accepted throughout the year. New members are selected each September.
