CHARLESTON -- Frost Brown Todd has been ranked 12th in the nation for superior client service and was again included in the Client Service 30 in the annual BTI Consulting Group Client Service A-Team Report, an annual survey ranking the top performing law firms in client service.
BTI Consulting Group describes The BTI Client Service 30 as "the cream of the crop" of the BTI Client Service A-Team. The 30 firms named in the report perform four to 15 times better than everyone else. BTI scores every firm based on clients' unprompted feedback, using a client-driven ranking of the importance and influence of each of the 17 client service activities. In its report on the exclusive group, BTI describes the firms in the Client Service 30 as setting "the standard by which clients compare all other law firms."
According to BTI, clients value Frost Brown Todd's ability to combine quality legal skills with an emphasis on client service delivery. Interviews of in-house counsel resulted in feedback including that Frost Brown Todd "has both a high level of service and quality legal work" and the firm differentiates itself from competitors through "a better understanding of my company."
"Client service is the centerpiece of what we do," said John R. Crockett III, Chairman of Frost Brown Todd. "We make it a point to know and understand our clients' businesses, to be responsive to their needs, and to deliver what they ask, at or before the time they ask for it."
Frost Brown Todd moved up in The BTI Client Service 30 to the 12th highest position from its 25th position in last year's report. The firm's improvement came from achieving a superior ranking in 16 of the 17 possible activities that drive superior client service, including top rankings in the four attributes that clients find most valuable and scarce among law firms: client focus, demonstrates a commitment to help, understands my business and provides value for the dollar.
"Frost Brown Todd continues to up its client service performance in a down market. Corporate counsel note strong understanding of the business and value - key elements of client demands in today's economy," says Michael B. Rynowecer, BTI's President.
Frost Brown Todd was one of only two law firms with less than 500 attorneys who were ranked in the top 12 and one of only three law firms that do not have headquarters in the traditional legal markets of New York, Atlanta, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Chicago or Washington D.C.
For the 2011 BTI Client Service 30,BTI Consulting Group interviewed hundreds of company attorneys and executives who routinely purchase legal services and oversee outside counsel. From these interviews, BTI identified 650 law firms serving large and Fortune 1,000 clients. The corporate counsel who participated in the survey identified 333 of those firms as delivering better than average client service. The Client Service 30 are those law firms that achieved the highest point totals.
