WHEELING -- Dinsmore & Shohl is pleased to announce that Anne Harman and Christopher Riley have joined the firm as partners.
The two attorneys will be moving from Bailey, Riley & Harman to Dinsmore & Shohl's Wheeling office.
"We're thrilled to have two attorneys who bring more than 40 years of combined experience join the firm," said Denise Klug, Managing Partner of Dinsmore & Shohl's Wheeling office. "Their knowledge, experience and perspective will enhance the personal service we provide to our clients."
Bailey, Riley & Harman is the merged successor of Byrum, Bailey & Riley -- founded in 1915 by P.J. McGinley -- and Riley & Riley -- founded in 1878 by T.S. Riley, a former West Virginia Attorney General.
Four generations of Rileys practiced law with the firm, including James B. Riley, who served on the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals from 1937 to 1958, and Arch W. Riley Sr., a former Assistant Attorney General, state senator and prosecuting attorney who was instrumental in establishing the Commission on Lawyer Assistance and Intervention of the West Virginia State Bar.
"Dinsmore & Shohl epitomizes the values and professionalism that guided the Riley firm for four generations," Riley said. "Anne and I are very excited to continue a longstanding tradition of service at a law firm that offers a quality and breadth of services, unmatched in the Ohio Valley."
Harman focuses her practice on the representation of businesses and companies, often in the areas of toxic tort civil litigation and regularly involving asbestos and benzene defense work. She represents a range of large and small companies, including those connected to the steel, power and chemical industries in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. Harman earned her J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law and her B.B.A. from Marshall University.
Riley has practiced law for more than 25 years and has extensive experience counseling educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and public agencies on a variety of issues, with an emphasis on employment matters. He also has a wealth of experience handling real estate and oil and natural gas matters. Riley earned his J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law and his B.A. from Tufts University.
Dinsmore & Shohl opened its first office in West Virginia in 2002 and expanded its practice into Wheeling in early 2007. With the addition of Harman and Riley, the office now boasts 10 attorneys, making it one of the largest law firms in Wheeling.
