CHARLESTON -- A Charleston woman is the first paralegal to take advantage of an exclusive membership in the National Bar Association.
That distinction goes to Janet Louise Thompson, or JT as she is known in Charleston. The NBA is now offering an exclusive membership to paralegals for $100.
Thompson is passionate about equality and justice and utilizes her own real life experiences mingled with her legal studies to assist others. She has assisted in many pro se legal matters -- from the circuit and appellate courts to the U.S. Supreme Court -- before she received her paralegal degree.
Thompson is the Democratic candidate for mayor in Charleston and is a recipient of the Black Ministerial Alliance's Trail Blazer in Community Service Award. Thompson is a graduate of West Virginia State Community and Technical College with an associate degree in paralegal studies.
NBA members can register for the NBA 86th Annual Convention & Exhibits for the special price of $275 until April 30.
