Diversity, legal affairs and operations of Minor League Baseball focus of Feb. 28 talk at WVU

MORGANTOWN -– Three leading executives with the Minor League Baseball Association, including President and CEO Pat O'Conner, will speak at West Virginia University Feb. 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Ruby Grand Hall at the Erickson Alumni Center.

The Minor League Baseball executive panel discussion is part of WVU's College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences2011 Distinguished Lecture Series. The event is open to the general public and will include a question and answer session.

Conner has spent 30 years in professional baseball, including the last 19 in the Central Office of Minor League Baseball. He will be joined by Darryl Henderson, coordinator, affiliate programs, and Louis Brown III, assistant director, legal affairs.

Henderson coordinates the Professional Baseball Employment Opportunities program, annual job fair, alumni association and Presidents' speaker series as part of the organization's diversity initiative. Brown is responsible for all administrative services for the legal department and assists in the review of control interest transfers, regulated transactions and relocations.

"This presentation by President O'Conner and his associates will provide a rare glimpse into the opportunities within the business practices and operations of Minor League Baseball," said Dr. Aaron Livingston, assistant professor of sport management at WVU.

"The three executives bring an incredible wealth of experience and knowledge to share with the community," added Dr. Jack Watson II, associate professor and department chair, sport sciences at CPASS. "We are thrilled to have them on campus to talk about the profession of baseball and the importance of administration, sport management, and successful program development."
