CHARLESTON - Citing his extensive leadership experience in labor and building associations and his involvement in government service, West Virginia Attorney General Darrell McGraw has selected Gary O. Tillis of Eleanor to serve on the Citizens Advisory Committee.

"It's an honor for me to serve on this committee," Tillis said in a press release. "Attorney General McGraw has been a tireless advocate for the citizens of West Virginia for many years. I'll be proud to be associated with him in fighting for the citizens of this great state."

Tillis, Vice President of the West Virginia AFL-CIO, is a member of the State Building and Trades Executive Board, Chairman of the State Laborers Pension Trust Fund, and Business Manager and Secretary-Treasurer of the West Virginia Appalachia Laborers' District Council. Currently Putnam County Commissioner, Tillis' public service includes three terms in the state legislature in the 1990s and experience with Workforce West Virginia (Region 2), Putnam Public Service District, WVU Extension Service, Executive Board of the ACT Foundation, and the Regional Intergovernmental Council (Region 3).

Created by McGraw in 2007, the Citizens Advisory Committee reaches out to communities throughout the state to provide personalized access to consumer protection resources for all West Virginians. It offers consumers with questions and complaints the opportunity for direct contact with a representative of the Attorney General's Office. Tillis will be one of 34 CAC members located around the state.

"Opening channels of communication through our Consumer Advisors is one of the most effective tools that my office can use in educating consumers," McGraw said in the press release. "It enables our citizens to make smarter choices and reduces unnecessary litigation."

Tillis is a graduate of West Virginia University, where he received a BS degree in Business Finance and was a part of the Mountaineer football team that faced Notre Dame in the 1998 national championship. He resides in Eleanor with his wife and three children.
