PERSONNEL FILE: Garvin joins Steptoe & Johnson

CHARLESTON -- Steptoe & Johnson is pleased to announce that James E. Garvin has joined the firm, Of Counsel, focusing his practice in the area of energy transactional law. Garvin will be resident in the Charleston office.

Garvin, a graduate of Alderson-Broaddus College (B.A.) and West Virginia University College of Law (J.D.), dedicated more than 25 years of his legal career to private practice. Now a member of the firm's Energy Team, he will continue to conduct real estate transactions on behalf of lending institutions and private parties, including the conduct and review of surface and mineral title examinations and issuance of title insurance policies.

"Jim brings a wealth of experience and skill to our transactional law practice," said Energy Team Leader Sharon Flanery. "His past experience helping clients will be an asset to energy producers in West Virginia and throughout the region."

Garvin is included in The Best Lawyers in America, as well as the American Inn of Courts. He serves as a committee chairman for the Boy Scouts of America (Troop 2), in addition to the Board of Trustees for the Knights of Columbus Council No. 12630. He is an active volunteer in youth sports, serving as a coach of little league baseball and soccer teams.
