CHARLESTON -– The State Law Library will host an open house on Friday, June 17, in honor of West Virginia Day.
A 35-minute tour of the Capitol Building will start at 9:30 a.m. in the Capitol Rotunda and include the chambers of the Senate and House of Delegates and the Governor's reception room.
At noon the Library will show the 65-minute documentary film "Welcome to Coalwood." Capturing the essence of a bygone era in the coalfields of Appalachia, the film is a tribute to the hometown of Homer Hickam Jr., author of "Rocket Boys," upon which the movie "October Sky" is based. Refreshments will be served.
The State Law Library is located in the East Wing of the Capitol, Room E-404. Metered parking is available on California Avenue and next to the Capitol parking structure on Piedmont Road.
Activities are free and open to the public.
