PERSONNEL FILE: Huddleston Bolen attorneys, practice areas honored

HUNTINGTON -- Eight Huddleston Bolen partners and four practice areas have been recognized in the recently published Chambers USA 2011 Guide: America's Leading Lawyers for Business.

Selected for individual recognition were:

* Richard Bolen, recognized for his work in natural resource law and commercial litigation

* Tom Gilpin, recognized in the area of real estate law

* Angela Konrad and J. H. Mahaney, who were both recognized in the area of commercial litigation

* Thomas Murray, recognized for his work in corporate and commercial law as well as banking and finance

* Audy Perry, whose work in the areas of tax law and corporate and commercial law were recognized

* Chris Plybon, recognized in both corporate and commercial law and real estate law

* Scott Sheets, recognized in the area of labor and employment law

The practice areas recognized by Chambers USA are Corporate and Commercial Law, Real Estate Law, Labor and Employment and Commercial Litigation. The firm's Real Estate Practice was honored to be Ranked 1 in West Virginia.

Chambers USA described the firm's commercial practice as being, a "great value for the money," noting that Tom Murray is "the number-one guy for corporate commercial transactions in the area. He handles both M&A and securities issues, often for big clients in huge transactions."

The publication also singled out Tom Gilpin for his work with health care and natural resource companies in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, securities, finance, and bankruptcy. Quoting a client, they also described Chris Plybon as "one of the smartest guys I've ever met -– a really acute, detail-oriented business lawyer." Further, they noted the work of Audy Perry, saying that he is "carving out a niche in tax exempt financing" and that Audy "does a great job in bond work and refinancing."

In its analysis of Huddleston Bolen's litigation department, Chambers USA wrote about the firm's long history of service to the railroad industry and its "expansion into energy, real estate, personal and occupational injury disputes." Quoting clients, the editors described Richard Bolen as "a hard-nosed litigator" and "extremely knowledgeable with a gritty approach. "He really gets things done," one client said. The publication described J. H. Mahaney as a "good, aggressive attorney who breaks down cases so that jurors understand and Angela Konrad as a "confident litigator who stands her ground."

The publishers also noted Huddleston Bolen's labor and employment team for its work in age, race and disability discrimination matters, singling out the work of partner Scott Sheets.
