Aloi appointed to Marion judge post

CHARLESTON -- Acting Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has appointed Marion County native and Fairmont lawyer Michael John Aloi as judge for the 16th Judicial Circuit serving Marion County.

The Farmington resident will fill the judicial vacancy created by the retirement of Fred Fox II. Fox retired Dec. 1, 2010, after serving 40 years on the court.

"Judge Fox dedicated himself to providing justice for the people of Marion County and he leaves behind a legacy that will not be easily duplicated," Tomblin said in a statement. "With his long-time leadership and legal expertise, I believe Michael will serve the people of Marion County well as Circuit Judge."

Aloi, an attorney with Manchin and Aloi Attorneys at Law in Fairmont, has held several leadership positions in both the legal and Marion County community, including past president of the West Virginia State Bar and Marion County Bar, president of the Association for Conflict Resolution, president of the United Way of Marion County and president of Family Service for Marion and Harrison Counties.

A graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College and the West Virginia University College of Law, Aloi has served as a lecturer and instructor on legal and business topics at both of his alma maters.

Aloi is married to Dr. Susan Aloi. They have four children, Joey, Alexander, Hannah and Iris.
