WEN is an association for women professionals that provides networking opportunities in the energy industry and fosters career and leadership development. The organization currently has chapters in Houston, North Texas and Southeast Louisiana. The newly launched chapter encompasses women in the Appalachian region of West Virginia, Pennsylvania and surrounding areas.

The Appalachian Chapter will facilitate social and professional networking opportunities in the region, cross-industry knowledge-sharing and educational opportunities among members from diverse professional backgrounds in all areas related to furthering women in the energy industry.

The chapter recently established its board of directors, which includes representatives from Alpha Natural Resources, Chesapeake Energy, CONSOL Energy, EQT, Jackson Kelly PLLC and Stone Energy Corporation.

Jackson Kelly attorney and Appalachian Chapter president, Erin Magee said, "The Appalachian Chapter aims to bring together women who are seeking to network with other professionals and organizations committed to the development of women's roles within the energy industry. With the expansion of the industry and new opportunities within the region, it is increasingly important that we support and foster the professional growth of women who work in the energy field."

WEN Houston's president, Jeannie Gardner said, "The Board of Directors of WEN Houston are excited to welcome the Appalachian Chapter. This region is rich with energy resources, and I believe it is a perfect choice for the location of a new WEN chapter to support the major economic development."
