WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The law firm Spilman Thomas & Battle has announced that Katie King has joined its Winston-Salem, N.C., office as a senior attorney in the litigation department.
King will be a member of The Battle Group, Spilman's high-stakes litigation group that focuses on high-risk, complex litigation cases. King is a native of Winston-Salem, and she has returned home after acquiring vast experience practicing securities and consumer class action litigation in Atlanta, Ga. She also developed a deep understanding of electronic discovery in her previous practice and will head the North Carolina office's e-discovery group.
King received her bachelor's degree from Duke University in Dec. 1998 and her law degree from Emory University School of Law in 2005. She is a member of The Women's Fund of Winston-Salem and co-chair of fundraising for "Winston Grows," a community gardening project of The Garden Council of Winston-Salem.
King previously worked as a Peace Corp Volunteer in Gabon, Central Africa, where she developed and initiated health education programs for schools and clinics focusing on STD, HIV/AIDS and pregnancy prevention.
