CHARLESTON -– Shane Harvey has rejoined Jackson Kelly after more than a decade as in-house counsel at Massey Energy which was recently acquired by Alpha Natural Resources.

As General Counsel of Massey Energy, Harvey worked closely with Massey's operations and provided guidance on personal injury litigation, environmental compliance, public affairs and health and safety compliance. He has represented clients in the coal since the start of his legal career.

Jackson Kelly CEO Michael D. Foster said, "We are pleased to welcome Shane back to Jackson Kelly. He is a true asset to our firm because of his years of experience in-house at a company that was one of the largest producers of coal in the United States. His intimate knowledge of the industry along with his years of legal experience in the environmental and safety and health arenas will be a great benefit to the firm and our clients. The addition of Shane also further enhances our status as the coal industry's outside 'general counsel'."

Harvey's announcement comes just one month after Roger Nicholson, former International Coal Group General Counsel, re-joined the firm.
