Funeral home didn't pay, lawsuit alleges

WINFIELD -- Matthews International Corp. is suing Gatens-Harding Funeral Home for failing to pay for goods and materials.

On Aug. 14, 2007, the defendant submitted a credit application to the plaintiff to maintain an account with the ability to purchase goods and materials on credit, according to a complaint filed Oct. 31 in Putnam Circuit Court.

Matthews International claims between April 14, 2010 and Jan. 5, it sold and delivered certain goods and materials for which the defendant failed and refused to pay.

The defendant failed to pay for $17,561.85 worth of goods and materials regardless of the plaintiff's demands for payment, according to the suit.

The plaintiff is seeking judgment in the amount of $17,561.85 with interest. It is being represented by John R. Keating.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge O.C. Spaulding.
