Rowe campaign announces leadership team

CHARLESTON -- Circuit Judge Jim Rowe has announced the leadership team for his campaign for the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.

Robert M. Steptoe is the campaign treasurer, Marc E. Williams is the chairman of the campaign advisory committee, and Gray Marion is the campaign manager.

"For my campaign to be successful, it was critical for me to assemble a leadership team of West Virginia's best leaders," Rowe said. "In securing the experience and abilities of Clarksburg attorney Bob Steptoe as my campaign treasurer, Huntington attorney Marc Williams as chairman of my campaign advisory committee and Charleston insurance executive Gray Marion as campaign manager, I am pleased to say the task has been accomplished.

"I look forward to working with them over the months ahead to reach our goal of winning a seat on the West Virginia Supreme Court."

Steptoe is chairman of the law firm Steptoe and Johnson, which has offices in Clarksburg-Bridgeport, Charleston, Huntington, Martinsburg, Morgantown and Wheeling and in several out-of-state locations.

Steptoe has practiced law in West Virginia for 40 years and formerly served as president of the West Virginia Bar Association, chairman of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, president of the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the West Virginia Ethics Commission.

Currently, he serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nature Conservancy in West Virginia and is a board member of West Liberty University. He is a graduate of the University
of Virginia and the West Virginia University College of Law.

Williams is managing partner of the West Virginia office of national law firm Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough. The firm has an office in Huntington and locations in five other states and Washington, D.C.

Williams is a former president of DRI, the international organization of lawyers and corporate counsel, and the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia.

In addition, he is the immediate past chair of the St. Mary's Medical Center Foundation, and is currently serving as a board member of the United Way of the River Cities and the Keith Albee Center for the Performing Arts. He is a graduate of Marshall University and the West Virginia University College of Law.

Marion is the chief executive of the Independent Insurance Agents of West Virginia, a post he has held for more than 20 years. Marion has an extensive background in political campaign strategies, working professionally in both federal and state races across the country during the past three decades.

He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum and a Leadership West Virginia graduate. Marion earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Appalachian State University in North Carolina.

Rowe, a Democrat, is an experienced circuit judge and former legislative leader. He is a graduate of West Virginia University and the School of Law at George Mason University. He lives in Lewisburg with his wife Sharon and has two daughters.
