PERSONNEL FILE: Barnette appointed to Concord University Board of Governors

CHARLESTON -- Jackson Kelly attorney David A. Barnette recently was appointed by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin to the Concord University Board of Governors for a four-year term.

Among other duties, the Concord University Board of Governors is responsible for determining, controlling, supervising and managing the financial, business and education policies and affairs of the institution.

Barnette graduated from Concord College (what it was called at the time) where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 1973. Currently, Barnette is a member of Jackson Kelly's Commercial Litigation Practice Group. His practice is focused upon business law, business litigation, technology and intellectual property matters. He has represented numerous major corporations in litigation arising from contract, technology, antitrust and construction law matters.

He has also been actively involved in the development of venture capital companies, emerging companies and the representation of small business investment companies. Since 1991, Barnette has been the General Counsel to the West Virginia Broadcasters Association and regularly represents some of the state's largest television and radio stations on an individual basis.

Jackson Kelly is a national law firm representing global corporations, national companies, entrepreneurs and individuals in areas of law such as environmental, business, labor and employment, federal and state workers' compensation, civil litigation and occupational safety and health. The firm has offices in Colorado, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
