PITTSBURGH — The law firm Spilman Thomas & Battle has announced that the firm has named Ron Schuler as member in charge of its Pittsburgh office.
"The Pittsburgh office of Spilman Thomas & Battle opened seven years ago and was the firm's first office expansion beyond the West Virginia border," Schuler said. "The office opened with a strong labor and employment law capability, and we have grown into a full-service operation. I am excited by the opportunities to build on this foundation."
Schuler replaces David L. Robertson, who will remain with the firm and return to his law practice full-time.
"After seven years as member in charge of the Pittsburgh office, I have decided, and firm management has concurred, that it is time for me to step away from office leadership responsibilities," Robertson said. "I have known Ron for many years and rest assured that the office leadership is in very capable hands."
Schuler is a corporate, securities and commercial transactions lawyer with extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, public offerings and private placement financings in the energy, software, biotechnology and telecommunications industries. He served as a chief operations executive of a $100+ million oil and gas company before joining Spilman in 2009.
Schuler is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia. He received his bachelor's degree, cum laude, from Pomona College and his law degree from Cornell Law School.
Spilman Thomas & Battle is a full-service law firm with more than 140 attorneys. Founded in 1864, Spilman has offices in Charleston, Morgantown and Wheeling, W.Va.; Harrisburg and Pittsburgh, Pa.; Winston-Salem, N.C.; and Roanoke, Va.
