WASHINGTON -– Michael G. Adams, General Counsel for the Republican Governors Association (RGA), has joined Dinsmore's Washington, D.C. office.

He joins the firm as a partner in the Government Relations Practice Group, focusing his practice on political law.

"We are extremely pleased that Mike is joining Dinsmore. He brings a high level of state and federal experience in an area that is very unique and significant to many of our clients," said Joe Terry, managing partner of Dinsmore's Washington, D.C. office.

Adams has managed compliance and litigation at the nation's foremost political organization, and guided the RGA in its efforts to elect Republican governors in each of the 50 states over five annual election cycles. Additionally, he has consulted with governors, staff and donors to ensure compliance with gift, ethics and pay-to-play laws.

When asked why he decided to join the firm at this time, Adams said, "Dinsmore is a large and growing, nationally recognized law firm, and being part of such an outstanding team will enhance the quality of client service I can provide. Recent court decisions have expanded corporations' and individuals' ability to engage in the political process, but with the lines constantly shifting, reliable counsel is needed to navigate them. I believe my experience in all 50 states and at the federal level will benefit existing Dinsmore clients as well as new clients."

Adams will focus his practice on political, governmental and constitutional law, with an emphasis on counseling and representing candidates, parties, independent groups, political vendors and donors. He will also counsel and represent clients in other constitutional and regulatory matters. Prior to joining the RGA, he served at the U.S. Department of Justice as Deputy Chief Privacy and Civil Liberties Officer and Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General. From 2004 until 2006, Adams served as Deputy General Counsel to Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his B.A. from the University of Louisville.

Dinsmore is comprised of more than 475 attorneys practicing in 13 cities throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Washington D.C. For more than a century, Dinsmore has provided a broad range of integrated services to meet the needs of both large and small businesses as well as institutions, associations, governments, professional firms and individuals.
