PERSONNEL FILE: Hurney named secretary of ADTA

Hurney

CHARLESTON -– Thomas J. Hurney Jr., a member of Jackson Kelly and the leader of the firm's Health Care and Finance Practice Group, was elected Secretary of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (ADTA) during the organization's recent 71st Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

Hurney, who will serve a one-year term, replaces F. Daniel Balmert who is the managing partner at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease's Akron office.

Hurney's practice involves the litigation and trial of cases involving serious personal injury and wrongful death. His practice includes industrial-related injuries and exposures, medical professional liability, products liability, and pharmaceuticals, including class and mass tort actions. Hurney has been recognized by several organizations as a leading trial lawyer and has been selected as Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) and an Advocate of American Board of Trial Advocates.

The ADTA has two main objectives: to provide an opportunity for the proven successful defense trial attorneys to associate with similarly qualified trial attorneys for professional, social and business purposes and to identify experienced defense trial attorneys for persons and business entities in need of counsel.

Jackson Kelly is a national law firm representing leading global corporations, national companies, entrepreneurs and individuals in areas of law such as environmental, business, labor and employment, federal and state workers' compensation, civil litigation and occupational safety and health. The firm has offices in Colorado, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
