CHARLESTON -— The law firm Spilman Thomas & Battle has announced that Charles L. Woody recently was named a Fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.

The election represents recognition from colleagues that the Fellow is an outstanding professional who has made a sustained contribution to the field of labor and employment law.

Woody is a member in Spilman's Charleston office. He helped to create and shape the firm's labor and employment practice group, which is now nationally recognized by U.S. News and World Report / Best Lawyers and is a Fortune 500 "Go-To" practice.

Woody has decades of experience in labor and employment law, representing corporate clients such as medical providers, retailers, and oil and gas companies. He also devotes a significant amount of his practice to litigation and appellate work. He is admitted to practice in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Florida.

Woody is a Fellow with the American Bar Association and Chairman of the Labor Section of the West Virginia State Bar. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia in 1969 and his law degree from Florida State University in 1972.
