WHEELING – The law firm Spilman Thomas & Battle PLLC announced that Sharon L. (“Shari”) Potter, member in charge of the firm’s Wheeling office, recently was inducted as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
This honor is limited to less than 1 percent of lawyers admitted to practice in each state. Nominees are elected by their peers based on outstanding achievements and dedication to the welfare of their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession. In addition to managing Spilman’s Wheeling office, Potter leads the firm’s white collar criminal defense and compliance practice. Her work centers on internal corporate investigations, white collar criminal defense, energy law and complex litigation.
Prior to joining Spilman, Potter served as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia. In this role, she earned several awards for her exceptional prosecution of cases.
Potter also is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and a Fellow of the West Virginia Bar Foundation. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for both the Wheeling YWCA and the Women’s Energy Network.
