CHARLESTON – A Kanawha County woman is suing the prison facility at which she was incarcerated over allegations of sexual harassment.
Alicia Long filed a lawsuit Aug. 20 in the Kanawha Circuit Court against correctional officer Jason Ennis, the West Virginia Regional Jail Correctional Facility Authority and a John Doe, the supervisor of Ennis, over counts of sexual abuse.
Long claims that while she was an inmate at the Eastern Regional Jail, she sustained a substantial injury due to the misconduct of Ennis and the indifference of the facility staff, including sexually exploitative comments, sexual abuse and requests of sexual favors. Long alleges that the acts of sexual exploitation upon her were discriminatory, gender based, and cruel and unusual. She also claims that her pleas for help were left unattended and Ennis was poorly trained and supervised.
Long is suing for an undisclosed amount of money for punitive damages, court costs and other rewards that the court deems appropriate. She is represented by Michael A. Woelfel of Woelfel and Woelfel LLP in Huntingon.
