MARLINTON — A Pocahontas County utility provider is suing a contracting company alleging it caused more than $130,000 in damages to its equipment.
Monongahela Power Company, which does business as Allegheny Power, filed a lawsuit in the Pocahontas Circuit Court on Sept. 9 against Pro Contracting, Inc., alleging the company negligently damaged its underground utility equipment while excavating on property in Snowshoe.
Monongahela alleges the company failed to properly check for the underground utility equipment before beginning its excavation work. Due to the company's alleged negligence, the suit states that Monongahela spent $134,162.69 to repair the equipment, while incurring added expenses, including loss of profit, in the process.
Monongahela is seeking payment in full as well as compensation from past, present and future expenses, loss of profits, attorney's fees, pre- and post-judgment interest, and such further relief deemed fit by the court.
