Logan County student sues vocational school over alleged injuries

School

LOGAN – A vocational school student is suing the school claiming he was injured by campus equipment.

Mikael Ryan Clay filed a lawsuit on Oct. 23 in Logan Circuit Court against the Logan County Board of Education claiming he was severely injured by school property.

Clay claims that on Oct. 29, 2013, while attending classes at the Ralph R. Willis Vocational School in Logan County, he was injured by a metal shearing machine that did not have a proper safety guard in place. Clay also alleges proper supervision was not given, and that contributed to his hand injury. Clay claims he suffered both temporary and permanent injuries which required medical treatment, he suffered pain and suffering, and loss of enjoyment of life.

Clay is seeking an amount that will fully and fairly compensate him for his injuries and damages, plus pre-judgement interest on his special damages, plus the coast of this action, and a trial by jury. Clay is represented by Donald C. Wandling of Wandling Law Offices in Logan. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge William Douglas Witten.
