Family accuses Mon Power of building power lines on private property

Electric power line

KINGWOOD – A family is suing Mon Power Company, alleging that the company did not get permission or the rights to build power lines on its property.

Paula Sigley, Paul Sigley and Cody Sigley filed a lawsuit on Jan. 20 in Preston Circuit Court against Mon Power.

The Sigleys claim that Mon Power never bought the right-of-way for construction of power lines on the property and are in violation of their property rights.

They are suing for removal of the power lines from their property and for compensatory damages for the amount of years that the power sat on their private property, which allegedly totals $500,000. The family is representing themselves. Judge Lawrence S. Miller, Jr. is presiding over the case.
